Take a break amidst nature in the Brière wetland area

View itinerary

Need a dose of pure fresh air? You’ll find the Brière in the heart of the Loire-Atlantique and, more than just a Regional Natural Park, it is a genuine open-air museum.

The Brière, precious natural heritage

Created by decree in 1970, the Brière Regional Natural Park covers 54,800 hectares of freshwater marshes, canals, meadows and reed beds. It offers visitors an exceptional and varied landscape to be explored the length and breadth on foot, bicycle, horseback or boat, with trails including:

  • the Mill trail
  • the Plane Tree trail
  • the La Roche aux Loups trail
  • the Croazac loop
  • the Sur les Pas de Cadou trail
  • and many more…

Just 35 minutes from our campsite, this will be a peaceful experience in the heart of the countryside, ideal when you fancy a change of scenery from the coast. You’ll be able to see the many dolmens, trees, rural villages or even meet the waders.

Delightful thatched villages

Contrary to popular belief, Normandy isn’t the only place you’ll find thatched cottages in France. There are almost 3, 000 houses with thatched roofs in the Brière, which is 60% of the total number in the country!

These age-old dwellings are preserved and restored by specialist thatchers.
